Learning & Development
A key part of our mission at Blu Matter Project is to help individuals and communities find help, recovery, and empowerment in their mental health journey. One of the ways that we do this is through training and education. All of our Blu Matter learning events are educational experiences combining education and current research with practical application.
Mental Health and Informed Training
The main educational experience that we offer is the Blu Matter Training. Blu Matter Training is a three-day experience designed to empower attendees with the knowledge and application to effectively engage with mental health in their lives and work. Incorporating mental health education tools for personal growth and practical methodology, Blu Matter Training provides a framework of understanding and empathy to create communities and classes that are conduits of healing. This training is vital for yoga instructors, personal trainers, physical therapists, athletes, dieticians, and fitness professionals, as well as anyone wanting to gain the tools to positively impact their communities.
Blu Matter provides a framework to understand mental health, its destructive stigma and shame, addiction, depression, anxiety, and suicide prevention. Through discussion and application, we look at ways to effectively and safely serve your community.Learn more and Register
Trauma Center-Trauma Sensitive Yoga: Foundations for Facilitators
Trauma Center-Trauma Sensitive Yoga: Foundations for Facilitators is a 20 hour foundational training for any facilitator who is interested in integrating movement practices from a trauma sensitive lens into their offerings. Facilitators who have experienced the benefits of this modality include mental health professionals & medical practitioners, as well as yoga/movement instructors, classroom teachers, coaches and bodyworkers with previous mental health certifications.
While this training is a pre-requisite for the 300-hr TCTSY Certification Program with the Center for Trauma and Embodiment, it can stand on its own as a general framework to apply within diverse contexts (medical, humanitarian, school, daily life, etc.) by applying the therapeutic themes and treatment goals.
Training participants will access tools for understanding the impacts of stress and trauma on the nervous system and how this practice could facilitate peace building from within, through mending bodies and nervous systems - learn to foster this anti-oppressive approach to healing through the application of a trauma-sensitive lens. Developing an understanding of complex trauma, attachment theory, and the neuroscience underpinning the TCTSY methodology, participants foster skills to facilitate a movement and breath practice that could support healing from long term trauma.
This anti-oppressive approach to healing supports recovery from individual and collective long-term trauma through movement, present moment experiences, and choice. TCTSY was developed by David Emerson at the The Center for Trauma and Embodiment as an empirically validated, adjunctive clinical treatment for complex trauma or PTSD.Learn more and Register
