About
Are you looking to expand your scope of mental health in the wellness world, but unsure where to begin? Titles such as “mental health informed “and “trauma informed” are beginning to gain traction in the wellness industry, but where does one start if they are not a medical professional?
Blu Matter Project Mental Health & Trauma Informed Training is a 15 hour online training program that provides individuals with mental health education, understanding, and empathy to create and empower change both individually and communally. We will explore tools for emotional, physiologically, personal & communal growth. As well as learn practical methodology in application to self & wellness studio studio settings.
Through a combination of theory and practice we will discover an understanding of mood disorders, stigma and shame, addictions, traumas & fear responses on an individual level.
Through an Anti-opressive and Anti-racist lens, we will gain deeper connection to our minds and bodies & explore body-centered healing work to support both personal and professional growth.
A large number of your wellness clients may have experienced past traumas or are living with mood disorders. Understanding the basics of mental illnesses & working from a trauma informed lens will help create welcoming spaces that are more inclusive of those who need extra support.
Our online training includes a variety of learning modalities including lecture, asana practice, breathwork, mindfulness and journaling exercises. Course content is live, interactive, reflective and participant focused.

Janey Brown is a performance veteran, international speaker, trauma-informed coach and the founder of Fearce Academy. Over the last two decades, Brown has performed in front of thousands of people, written songs with Grammy award-winning and multi-platinum producers, and has coached a variety of artists. She has also impacted people of all ages across North America with her wellness education and motivational keynotes, and has years of experience teaching movement, mindfulness and mental resilience to corporate executives as well as athletes in the NHL, Olympics, NASCAR and MLS.
Deeply concerned with the rising global suicide rates, Brown now deploys her coaching mostly in the field of “mental fitness,” otherwise known as mindset. Since 2014, she’s been involved with the nonprofit “Blu Matter Project” and co-leads their “Mental Health and Trauma Sensitive Training”, which includes suicide prevention education. It’s no secret to the public that for most of her life Brown has struggled with mental illness herself due to untreated complex PTSD. Though, what was once her fear is now the fuel that operates “Fearce Academy,” a wellness company Brown built to help people improve emotional intelligence and achieve optimal mindset in their personal lives, so they can “radiate confidence in front of any audience.”
When Brown isn’t coaching or performing, she’s devoted to furthering her University studies in the field of psychology and trauma to better serve her community and the world.

Testimonials
The learning experience in these training weekends exceeded my expectations and the facilitators were amongst the best. I am already incorporating tools and knowledge acquired into my work and teachings. Thank you Blu Matter Project for organizing top quality yoga events and creating a community surrounding mental health information, exchange and awareness.
I never realized how harmful the stigmas that exist around mental health were before attending this training. Stigma and racial inequities fuel mental illness by isolating people from the community they need most.
Hours full of mindful conversations regarding stigma, stereotypes, sensitivity, vulnerability, communication & human relatedness. Creating communities willing to discuss mental health from a place of respect are invaluable.
This amazing training helped me to understand how important it is for everyone in the wellness world to be properly informed and educated on mental health. This affects the people closest to us including our students and community. Having the right information could mean saving a life.
I found the in-depth, open, and reflective discussions about mental health stigma supported me in shifting some of my long-held, culturally-ingrained and racialized beliefs surrounding those individuals who experience mental illness. With participants from a wide variety of career and life paths globally, the sessions of this training were informative thought-provoking.
